Family portraits

As you can see from my web site, my backgound is orientated heavily to action photography anticipating what is about to happen and patiently awaiting the desired expression. However, I also shoot a lot of candid photography and the combination of both syles produce some wonderful portraits...see the examples in the 'glider' window below: Some parents, frustrated with the traditional school photo with the 'classic' marble background - see the small boy in the chair, below , (this is 'not' my work and is only shown to represent style) - asked me to photograph thier children and capture there essence who they are? and sometimes, in case of the senior year-book photo below, how the offspring wish to present themselvest to the world at large. Quite frankly, these parents were fed up paying $40+ or production-line photographs of thier loved ones when hey could pay a similar amount have an image that they could treasure.

Images like the examples above of Abby, Joe and Hannah just don't happen...it takes a lot of cooperation and buy-in by the kids.

To obtain this investment, I spend a time with the kids, we chat and the kids relax and we shoot while talking all the time. I use long lenses to ensure that I do not intimidate my subjects by sticking a camera in their faces and I prefer to work with only natural light, with fill light used as required. Using the softness of natural light and maybe using a low-power flash to product catch lights in the eyes.

The photos can be taken in your house or, on location, at a place of of your choosing anytime of day.

The pricing of the basic package is $195 and for that you will recieve

• Up to 4 persons - individual photos of family members ( children and/or adults )
• On-location family photo shoot anywhere in the state of Rhode Island
• The shoot will last up to 1 hour
• Photos will be provided to you for your review on a web page, where you can select the images to be printed
• Free basic photo retouch (pimple/spot removing, light adjustment
• One 8" x 10" print of each subject - color or black and white (you choose)

Note: electronic files are 'not' included in this package

Once the photos have been delivered, I will post your images to my online store where you, your friends or family may purchase additional photos. in a full range of size, at your leisure. It's the little touches that make the difference...

In this example an urban setting was required for the senior year book photo. Unfortunately, when we went on location to shoot the photo the town had cleaned up all of the local graffitti. Not to be detered, we took the shot (which was under a Sprague Bridge) and I bought a stock photo of the graffiti on a wall in Venice Beach, LA and with a little photo retouch magic...hey presto, we have the senior year book photo in an Unrban setting.

Note - you wil not a color cast change and this was a deliberate action to match the color temperature of Joe with the color temperature of his new background

Payment:

$75 non-refundable deposit will be to reserve your slot. However, if you do need to cancel a shoot because life got in the way, we can reschedule with no-loss of deposit. Deposit will only be lost of the shoot is absolultely canceled,

The balance will be paid after you have approved which photos will be printed.

I will send you a web-based invoice, through Pay-Pal's merchant services guaranteeing security, for both the deposit and the balance where you will be able to make your payment via a major credit card.
